5 Senses - Services
5 Senses Mission Statement
To promote / develop the self esteem, confidence and independence of vulnerable adults. This is provided through educational sessions which use the expressive arts as a tool to aid developmental learning. The expressive arts approach helps to break down personal and social barriers in a safe and welcoming environment.
The 5 Senses is open to students between the hours of 9.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Sessions run from 10am to 12.30 and 1.30pm to 4pm. The 5 Senses Charity is looking to expand its opening times in the future, however this will be due to student demand for extended service hours.

Centre Based Activities
We at 5 Senses provide educational activities covering a number of subjects, from Drama through to Life Skills. The sessions are designed to develop each individual’s learning capabilities by using thematic teaching methods which incorporate differing forms of expressive arts. Using music, art, dance and drama as tools to enhance each individual’s development in a wealth of subjects, means that sessions can be tailored to cover each individuals’ learning styles.Using this person centred approach enables the 5 Senses team to monitor and evaluate each student on an individual basis. All students can work at a pace that suits their individual personal development needs. This specific way of working is unique to 5 Senses.
Community Based Activities
We strongly believe that it is important for our students to access community based activities to ensure that each student can become a valued member of society.
Day trips are one of the most popular activities the centre provides, with many of the students involved in choosing the next daytrip destination. Three trips which we ensure happen on a weekly basis are swimming, bowling and a social get together which includes a pub lunch, karaoke and dancing!
